This toolkit was designed for EMPOWER 2.0 to help policymakers become prosumers in renewable energy. The focus was on translating complex information into a clear and visually engaging format.
Our challenge was to make complex energy data understandable and useful for policymakers and communities who want to make greener choices.
Using datasets from CBS and Klimaatmonitor, we analysed how municipalities produce renewable energy. We translated this information into clear visual data sets to highlight where improvements are possible.
The result is a clear and visual online portal where users can explore data on solar, wind, and biogas energy production and see opportunities for growth. The goal is not only to inform, but to motivate. Showing that transitioning to green energy is achievable, practical, and meaningful on a local level.
My focus was on the visual and interaction design of the toolkit. I developed the layout, color palette, icons, charts, and overall visuals to ensure the data was presented clearly and intuitively. I also collaborated closely with the developer in our team to align the design vision with the final implementation.
This project taught me how to translate complex data into clear visual communication. I learned how to provide clarity in data visualisation, collaborate effectively between design and development, and create tools that encourage sustainable decision making.
